As a completely independent practitioner I can advise and produce a report without fear or favour.
Service User A was a male with very limited mental capacity. He was cared for 24/7 by a team of carers in a specially adapted house.
The Court of Protection Deputy, a solicitor managed the fund awarded to him some time ago.
The solicitor contacted me as she was concerned that the package was becoming compromised. She asked me to conduct an investigation and produce a report based on my findings.
I interviewed all members of the care team, along with several family members and my report was on the Deputy’s desk within a week of my investigation and action was taken soon after.
Happily the deputy was able to resolve the issues without too much conflict and the package continues.
My independence was key to the successful resolution of this situation. The care providers realised I had no axe to grind, I wasn’t a rival agency attempting to discredit their service and steal the package from them.
The family saw my credentials and realised I had considerable experience in the care sector, and the deputy understood that I would be writing a ‘warts and all’ report!
